Why it's needed: Court-created loopholes have allowed tax increases that are directly contrary to the plain language of Proposition 13. These rulings have cost Californians billions of dollars a year.

What it does: The Local Taxpayer Protection Act to Save Proposition 13 makes clear that...

• Local taxes for a special purpose require approval by two-thirds of voters to pass, even if proposed by an initiative backed by special interests.

• New real estate transfer taxes (which are like sales taxes on real estate) are prohibited, except the modest 0.11% documentary transfer tax allowed prior to Proposition 13.

• Existing real estate transfer taxes (including Measure ULA in the City of Los Angeles) are repealed effective December 31, 2028, except the 0.11% documentary transfer tax allowed prior to Proposition 13.

CA Voter ID Initiative

The California Voter ID Initiative is a state constitutional amendment being proposed to impose a Voter ID requirement for all future elections in California. Because the proposal is a constitutional amendment, once approved by the voters, state politicians will be compelled to comply with it for all future elections – no exceptions. Here’s what it requires:

1. Photo ID to Vote

Voters would provide a government issued ID for in-person voting or provide last four digits  of a government ID for voting by mail.

2. Verification of Citizenship

Election officials would be required to verify that only eligible individuals are registered to vote and receive ballots. Citizenship must be verified.

4 Reasons to Sign the CA Voter ID Petition:

1. Makes Sure CA Elections are Fair
   For years, people have had doubts about the fairness and integrity of our elections. Polling shows that if we implement Voter ID, their confidence in elections will be increased —improving the sense of fairness.

2. Makes CA Elections More Accessible
   A lot of voters have forgotten how they signed their name when registering to vote. By moving to the last 4 digits of a government-issued ID for verification, this provides everyone with an easy PIN number to vote with more confidence. While opponents say Voter ID makes it harder to vote if you're economically disadvantaged, this proposal requires that every person shall be provided a free ID upon request for voting.

3. Broad Bipartisan support
   Opponents say Voter ID is racist and suppresses vote, but minorities actually support Voter ID at greater rates than white voters. U.S. courts have also routinely ruled that Voter ID is not racist.
